Pushed to the Limit
Why is it so hard to like the pure competitor? Why is it that the mainstream media gangs up against the alpha males?
Ayrton Senna was an apex predator in his day. In an interview with racing legend and multiple world champion Mr. Jackie Stewart, the interviewer wanted to get Senna involved in controversy and “expose” him, but Senna replied with one of the most iconic one-liners in sporting history: “If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are not a racing driver.”
This proved the ambition of Senna to the world along with his commitment to winning and his relentlessness, which wasn’t adored by the other drivers but got him raving fans and accolades from young and up-and-coming future world champions.
Michael Jordan wasn’t particularly liked by his teammates. Kobe Bryant was hated by the other players on the roster… The clash between the ones that push others to their limits and the media is always going to be a friction-filled one.
The media wants to be politically correct and hates the winner that doesn’t apologize for their results while seeking their approval.
After getting cheated in 1989, Senna felt the system was against him, and rightfully so.
Coming into the Japanese Grand Prix in 1990, a year after the championship was taken from him on the same circuit, he wasn’t about to get fooled again.
If Alain Prost didn’t gain points, Senna would be the world champion.

Senna started in pole position, but its location was moved mysteriously to the bad side of the track outside of the racing line in a last-minute decision.
As Prost and Senna came roaring towards the first corner (a right-hander), Senna went for the overtake. Prost and Senna touched each other and went off the track… Senna was the champion of the world but not in the way he wanted.
Senna compromised on his value system and his beliefs by stooping down to Prost’s level and making a questionable maneuver.
He didn’t cause the collision, but he certainly could have avoided it.
Senna was changed right then and there.
He could never be the same person again, and that left a mark on his psyche.
The system had lured him to ruffle his feathers. Even though he wasn’t wrong, it wasn’t his style.
When the other side plays dirty, you sometimes have to roll up your sleeves as well.
I’m just afraid that the next bullet won’t blow past Trump’s ear, and the powers that be will blame Iran for it while justifying war.
It could happen, and I pray it won’t.
