Death Toll Rising

Before I tell you everything I have learned about the Maui wildfires and why it is a travesty of the highest order, I want to make one thing extremely clear: in today’s world, it is never easy to report on any issue.

The reason that breaking down any topic of substance is becoming a matter of emotional debate is because objective journalism has become scarce and propaganda channels are the norm.

I don’t have to open CNN or CNBC to know their narrative, and I don’t have to watch Fox, either. This is further exacerbated by the fact that these channels don’t bring on a variety of guests but only those that speak the same narrative.

Take the war in Russia, for example. If we published a historic tale of how we got here, people that HATE the West and NATO and think that Russia was only defending itself would send their remarks and criticism. On the other end, those that view Putin as a ruthless dictator would ask us to get our heads examined.

If you don’t see the world from a proper point of view, everything about your life is distorted, and that will impact your actual standard of living.

I care about results and celebrate any fact that makes me say “ah, I didn’t think about it in that way” because I only have one goal: growth.

In our model portfolio for 2023, for instance, the first company was AMD, which Wall Street left for dead in 2022, yet it’s up 63% YTD while QQQ (its benchmark) is up 35%… ACTUAL RESULTS. Fair Isaac (FICO), maybe my favorite business in the world that’s featured in the same report HERE, is up 42% in 2023, 69% in the past year, and 274% in the past five years compared with 96% for QQQ.

My judgment is a trait I’m proud of, and it will NEVER fall into the hands of propaganda from any direction. I care about the TRUTH, and all else is a delusion. Just like the German soldiers in WW2 still talk about the comradery and friendship built during their time together acting on the most perverted geopolitical strategy of all time, people love being in a group environment that tells them they’re right, so they’ll keep on manifesting their delusions and holding them close to their chests because the rest of them are “blind” or “brainwashed.”

So, if one cares about what really happened in Hawaii, here is the actual truth:

1. No one has been able to truly place a finger on the origins of the fire. 
2. It probably wasn’t from lightning strikes.

The most viable theory is that a combination of extreme drought levels and conditions that are more prone to wildfires than in California started this in areas where grass is untreated and overgrown.

3. Hurriane Dora brought very strong winds to the archipelago, and because Maui is mountainous, the strong gusts pushed the fire toward the coastal towns. 
4. In the hours leading up to the morning of August 8^th, the electrical grid was still active even though cables had fallen and were completely bent, which is one of the most likely ways the fire began.

The tragedy just starts here. On Tuesday, I’ll do my best to explain why it spread so fast and caught so many families off guard in the worst disaster since 1918!
